Welcome to Shelby Lynne Photography where I embrace the magic of capturing YOUR most precious moments by creating timeless photos that tell YOUR story through the art of photography. I believe that every birth story is a beautiful, unique journey filled with lots of love, raw emotions, overwhelming joy, & unforgettable memories.

Birth is such a beautiful life event and truly deserves the investment of a birth photographer. Much like your wedding day, your birth is a major life event that deserves to be documented & remembered. There are no second takes, no overs. The beauty of birth photography is that you essentially get to relive one of the most amazing moments of your life & even share your child's birth story with them when they’re older. It can even assist you in piecing together those blurry fragments & tiny details you didn’t register in the moment. It can also be utilized as an amazing visual therapeutic healing & empowering tool during postpartum. Looking back through your birth photos will get your oxytocin flowing & aid in supporting you in your transition to motherhood & bonding with your baby.

Birth photography is not only about capturing the special moment you welcome your baby or babies into the world, but about the journey of labor, the emotion in the room, and capturing just how incredibly powerful you are. It’s the little moments of you and your birth partner holding one another, it’s the look in your partner’s eyes when they realize just how incredible you are, it’s the smiles, the tears, & every little thing in between that helps shape & tell your story.

CAPTURING THE FIRST MOMENTS OF LIFES MIRACLES

Be present in YOUR moment & I will bring you back to it.

Each birth is different and the choices of your birth space, such as who is present, is completely your choice. Being invited into your birth space is something I take very honorably, as there is nothing more sacred than a birth space. I am truly blessed to be able to witness & capture such a special event & will always work in an unobtrusive & respectful manner. You can have full faith that I will be there to support and photograph your birth.

Through my lens, I’ll capture the connection & tender moments that often go unnoticed- a gentle touch, a tear of joy, the first breath, & the overwhelming love that fills the atmosphere of the room. My goal is to create timeless photos that tell your story, reflecting the emotions & atmosphere of your birthing experience in an authentic & heartfelt manner.

I would be thrilled to be apart of your journey & cannot wait to document the precious moments that unfold during this transformative time. Whether you are expecting your first child or welcoming an addition to your growing family, I'm here to provide you with a personalized, unforgettable experience!

FAQ

Why Birth Photography?

In this era of taking back birth & empowering & educating mothers to know their bodies & their rights during birth, more families are choosing to document their birth stories. It actually makes a lot of sense. We tend to photograph all of the major events in our lives, so why not this?

We think we'll remember all of the details surrounding the transformative experience that birth is, but eventually, it fades. With a gallery of photos to look back on, you'll always remember YOUR journey of labor, the overwhelming love, the tender moments, the raw emotion in the room, and just how incredibly powerful you are.

Anybody can take a camera into a birth space, but choosing a professional photographer with adequate training in the birth realm is why you want to hire me. I can promise you that you won't regret having me document your birth.

I Think I Want to Document my Birth. What's Next?

You'll inquire & fill out my questionnaire. Once that's complete, we'll set up a complimentary consultation to get to know each other & answer any questions you have. Then you'll sign a contract, pay a deposit to reserve your due date & set up a payment plan.

What about my modesty?

If your modesty has you feeling concerned, please let me reassure you that birth photography is in no way just about the crowning shot. In fact, some clients don’t want those images at all. I am able to get creative with angles & crops post editing to protect your modesty. We will chat about the photos you want & even the ones you don't want. Your wishes are my priority.

Birth photography is all about emotion. It’s about capturing your strength, your focus, your peace, your power, how your partner gazes at you with adoration & admiration, the look on your faces when you meet your baby & all those fresh newborn moments.

When Will You Join Me During My Labor & Delivery Process & how long will you stay?

I will arrive in active labor (6-7 cm) & stay up to 2 hours post-partum.

What if the Birth takes a long time?

I'll be there. I don't put a cap on the time it takes to birth your baby.

What if I decide in the moment that I don't want photos taken?

This has never happened, but I always tell my clients that if at any moment they need space, I'll give them space.

Should I call or text you when my labor starts?

Yes, absolutely! Please text me with updates when you are in early labor & call me when you are wanting me to head to you.

You can also have your midwife or loved one contact me. I prefer if you call me when you want me to come over since I may sleep through a text message if it's in the middle of the night.

I always ask for 2 hours from the time you tell me to come to the time I get there. You’re NOT going to bother me, please let me know anytime you think labor is starting so we can be in communication & I can get there. I really want to emphasize this because if I miss your birth due to the fact that you did not tell me in time- there are NO refunds.

How Many Photos will I receive?

You will receive an online gallery of 100+ high resolution digital photos.

When is payment due?

A $500 deposit is due the day of hire to secure your due date spot. The remainder of the fee can be made in payments, with the final payment due the day I go on call for you at 37 weeks.

What is your cancellation policy?

There are NO refunds for voluntary cancellations because I take a limited amount of sessions per month & that spot could have gone to someone else.
